December 2023

Newsletter

Rather than sending out Christmas cards this year, we are sending this newsletter as we wanted to address as many as people as possible with a BIG THANK YOU.  It was another very busy year and thank you to all who contributed to the exhibitions, lectures and workshops that were hosted throughout 2023.

The year started off with the continuing success of Power of Pattern exhibition at the Fashion Textile Museum, London.  The exhibition then travelled to Dovecot Studios, Edinburgh and it is now on display at Millesgarden Museum in the wonderful city of Stockholm, Sweden.

Delayed by Covid, the exhibition we had planned at magnificent Hidcote Gardens in the Cotswolds,
Gloucestershire, finally came to fruition.   We also had the honour of displaying a full range of textiles
throughout the magnificent 13thC Powis Castle, Mid Wales. These National Trust properties served as
the photoshoot locations for both, Quilts in the Cotswold and Quilts in Wales.  It was an amazing opportunity to celebrate both books at superb venues.

We were invited to show the quilts from, ‘Timeless Themes’, published in April. This was held at the Victoria Art Gallery during the summer in the beautiful Roman City of Bath. The exhibition included the fantastic mosaic work by Candace Bahouth.

An unexpected delight was a gorgeously presented collection of Liza Prior Lucy and Kaffe’s quilts at the Iowa Quilt Museum, Winterset, USA, it was well worth the road trip believe me!  This exhibition will travel onto the Texas Quilt Museum, La Connor, Texas, watch our calendar of events page for dates.

Travel this year included a sewing machine launch and workshops in Germany, lecture in Florence, Italy and retreats in Wisconsin.  We are still reeling from the success of the annual US tour; it’s been a joy to see the reception of Kaffe’s latest book ‘Quilts by the Sea and marvel at the creativity that is expressed using the Kaffe Fassett Collective designs.

As Free Spirit Fabrics promoted ’85 and Fabulous’ a limited edition of Kaffe’s favourite past prints, again, it really has been a fabulous year.  Philip Jacob just dropped off his next range of fabrics for Kaffe to recolour as part of the Kaffe Fassett Collective for 2025, and Brandon is working on his designs.

May we express how grateful we are to have so many supportive folks who make delicious sense of our work so that we can continue doing what we love.

We wish you all the very best wishes as we close 2023 and welcome 2024.

Sent with all good thoughts
from Kaffe, Brandon and the Kaffe Fassett Studio
